Biography
Michael Quigley is Co-Founder and CEO of QVH Media, Inc., an Atlanta-based producer and distributor of evocative, boundary-pushing films.
Previously, Quigley served as EVP, Content Acquisitions, TNT, TBS, truTV, HBO and HBO Max. He was responsible for buying and licensing the most prized film and television titles from within Warner Bros. Discovery’s expansive library as well as from third-party partners, building a profound content offering across multiple platforms.
Quigley created a deep and rich catalog, negotiating deals for a vast selection of iconic film and television titles. This included library content from Warner Bros. Discovery’s distinguished portfolio of brands, including Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, DC and more, as well as acquisitions from 20th Century Studios, Lionsgate, LucasFilm, Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures, Studio Ghibli, Universal Pictures and more. Under his leadership, HBO Max’s 2022 film offering included more Oscar nominees than any other streaming service, including Belfast, Drive My Car, Dune, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Nightmare Alley, and West Side Story, as well as The French Dispatch, Judas and the Black Messiah, In the Heights, Last Night in Soho, and Shiva Baby, which were also among 2021’s best-reviewed films.
Quigley was also responsible for bringing to HBO Max a collection of the most popular television series in all streaming, spanning all genres and audience tastes, including beloved titles such as Abbott Elementary, Adventure Time, Big Bang Theory, Friends, Gossip Girl, Rick & Morty, Sesame Street, South Park, Steven Universe, Teen Titans Go!, The West Wing, and Young Sheldon.
In 2021, Quigley ushered in an expansive first look deal with Jeff Friday Media covering unscripted series, documentary films, factual content and special event programming aimed at championing black and brown culture for HBO, HBO Max, TBS, TNT, truTV and CNN Films. Additionally, Quigley identified an opportunity to amplify Black voices on HBO Max through television series with iconic programming including All Rise, Batwoman, Black Dynamite, Boondocks, Chappelle's Show, Chewing Gum, David Makes Man, A Different World, Eyes on the Prize, Family Matters, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, The Jamie Foxx Show, Key & Peele, The Last O.G., Martin, South Side, and The Wayans Bros.
Quigley’s purview also included the TBS, TNT and TruTV networks, for which he acquired hit TV series and high-energy, big-ticket movies such as Creed and Central Intelligence, which aired as part of TBS’s “Friday Night Vibes” movie block, and Suicide Squad, Aquaman, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman Begins, Man of Steel, Justice League and Wonder Woman, which have aired as a DC marathon on TNT. The television networks are also the home of LucasFilm’s Star Wars movie franchise, and the Marvel Studio’s Marvel movie franchise, and were the first networks to exclusively premiere titles such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, and are home to the annual May the 4th Be With You Star Wars movie marathon.
Quigley has been the recipient of multiple honors, including Shadow & Act’s RISING award, NAMIC’s “Luminary” Award, Multichannel News’ “40 under 40”, and
Cablefax Magazine’s “Top 50 Influential Minorities in Cable” for eight consecutive years. He is a sought-after keynote speaker and thought leader in digital media, film, streaming and TV.
Quigley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Rice University and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University.
